NS Mounties recover body of missing man who fell through ice

A tragic ending in the search for a man who fell through thin ice in Shelburne County Sunday night. Mounties have recovered the body of James William Kenney, 24, of Oak Park. Kenney and a friend were riding on an ATV when they fell through the ice on Oak Park lake.

Barrington RCMP Sgt. Bob Forbes tells News 95-7 this is a hard time for the community of Oak Park, especially the Kenney family.

“Obviously they’re very upset,” Forbes says. “However, they did receive some comfort on the fact that the remains of their son was located so quickly by our RCMP dive team.”

Forbes says Kenney was driving the ATV at the time of the accident. His 15-year-old male passenger was rescued by firefighters and taken to the Yarmouth Hospital. He has since been released.
