Nova Star Cruises files for bankruptcy

Nova Star Cruises Limited has filed an assignment in bankruptcy.

Trustee Deloitte Restructuring Inc. filed the documents on April 13th.

A meeting of creditors is scheduled on May 4th in Yarmouth.

Filed documents show a list of 216 unsecured creditors, with a total unsecured claim amount of $15,128,734.68.

U.S. Marshalls seized the ship late last year on court order because of money Nova Star Inc. owed to its creditors.

It was released from custody in early December, at that time a lawyer for the company said creditors were being paid and the company was trying to get the ship back on the water making money.
