New community show highlighting Dartmouth to star a familiar face

By Katie Hartai

A show all about Dartmouth is premiering Thursday night on community TV.

Starring long-time Halifax Regional Municipality councillor Gloria McCluskey, Destination Dartmouth will air on Eastlink at 8:30 p.m.

McCluskey says the series has 13 episodes with each show focusing on a unique part of Dartmouth, like its history, downtown, Main St. and Shubenacadie canal.

She says she expects everyone will be able to take something away from it. “I did want to do stories about Dartmouth, there are people who live there who probably are not familiar with some of the things I will be speaking about, and new people who will learn something,” said McCluskey.

The show's star is no stranger to TV. When she was mayor of Dartmouth, McCluskey had a show called Mayor's Corner, and when she wasn't mayor it was called Chatting with Gloria. Those ran for about 15 years on Dartmouth cable.

She says she wanted to do another show simply because she loves Dartmouth.
