Time to pay up as parking fees are back in effect in HRM and provincial hospitals

By Mark Hodgins

As more businesses open and health care services begin to ramp back up, you'll have to pay for parking again.

By-law officers will be monitoring metres starting Monday.

The municipality says new temporary 15-minute parking zones have been installed to meet the short- term pick up needs of restaurants and other businesses.

HRM waived parking fees on March 19th in response to the pandemic IN a move it says cost the city $450,000 a month.

Parking operations and fees also getting back to normal at the IWK and Nova Scotia Health Authority facilities.

The health authority says health services are ramping back up, and it expects demand for parking spots is going to go up too.

The IWK will continue to offer reduced rates for in-house families and patients, and the nsha will continue to offer reduced rates for frequent visitors
