Two facing charges after Halifax home searched

Regional Police have charged two people after searching a home on Cogswell Street in Halifax.

Officers with the Quick Response Unit pulled over a vehicle on Bell Road around 8:30 Thursday night. They took two people into custody as part of what police have called an ongoing investigation.

A short time later, officers searched a residence on Cogswell Street in Halifax and found a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl, a prohibited weapon and cash at the scene.

As a result, a 37-year-old man is now facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a weapon contrary to order
  • Failing to comply with a probation order
  • Failing to comply with a release order (x3)
  • Failing to appear in court (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing it is unauthorized

And a 34-year-old woman will answer to the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized

No injuries were reported.
