Three people taken to hospital after head-on crash east of Halifax

Three people were rushed to hospital, including one by helicopter, after a crash on Hwy. 7 east of Halifax on Thursday evening.

The Mounties say the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. in Salmon River Bridge, as a Chevrolet Silverado and a Hyundai Elantra collided head-on.

The driver of the Elantra, a 24-year-old man from Porters Lake, was flown to hospital by LifeFlight with after suffering life-threatening injuries. A 24-year-old woman, a passenger who is also from Porters Lake, was taken to hospital by EHS with serious injuries.

The driver of the Silverado, a 25-year-old Mushaboom man, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Hwy. 7 was closed in the area for hours but has since reopened. The RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.
