Amherst man charged after fleeing from police

A man from Amherst is facing several charges connected to an incident from July 16.

Amherst Police say a 33-year-old driver failed to stop for officers shortly after 8 p.m. and fled from police at a high rate of speed.

The driver was identified by the officers and was later arrested at their home.

He is now facing numerous Criminal Code driving charges including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and another charge.

The accused was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on September 9.

The person’s name was not released as charges have not yet been formally laid.
