Teen charged with manslaughter after drug overdose in Dartmouth

Regional police have charged a man with manslaughter in connection with the death of another man last year in Dartmouth.

On November 10, 2024, police responded to a home on Craigburn Drive in Dartmouth after a report of a drug overdose, where officers found 18-year-old Darian Clayton-Fleet inside.

On Monday night, officers arrested 19-year-old Lance Kevin Rogers at a home in Dartmouth.

Rogers was scheduled to appear in a provincial court on Tuesday to face charges of manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death.

Police said investigators are not looking for any other suspects at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact HRP or Crime Stoppers.

Known as ‘fun-loving’

A GoFundMe has been set up to support the family of Clayton-Fleet, who was described as being a “young, wild and free-hearted friend.”

“He was the protector and heart and soul of this family,” the organizer wrote. “Darian Anthony, you will be so missed by so many.”

According to the fundraiser, this is the second person in less than a year that the family has buried. The money will go towards allowing a proper burial for the teen and to relieve financial stress for the family.

“He was a natural athlete and leader, sometimes serving as Assistant Captain or Captain,” Clayton-Fleet’s obituary reads. “He made his family very proud and gave them great joy watching him play both football and hockey with so much passion and determination.”
