Halifax firefighters took the time to connect and engage with some of the neighbourhood’s youth after extinguishing a fire in the community of Bedford.
It happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday evening when first responders received a call about a garage fire on Cutter Drive.
Crews arrived to find a working fire in the attached garage of a house. They quickly deployed a fire hose to contain the flames to prevent further damage and spread to the main area of the house.
The incident escalated to a second alarm, but a quick response allowed responders to control the blaze.
Following the response, firefighters took the time to speak with some of the neighbourhood’s youngest members, sharing their experiences and inspiring the young minds. Some of the children even suited up in Halloween costumes to show how they could lend a helping hand.
“Thank you to our members for always taking the time,” the Halifax Professional Fire Fighters Union wrote in a post on X, “not just to respond to emergencies, but to leave a positive impact on the community wherever we go.”
