Police respond to break-ins and arrest man on outstanding warrant

Halifax Regional Police were called to 726 incidents over the weekend, including two break-ins, where multiple people were arrested.

The first notable call was on May 3 at around 8:20 p.m. Officers responded to a robbery at a business on Spring Garden Road in the municipality. Staff told police a man threatened them with a knife and demanded money.

Officials said no one was injured in the altercation, but the suspect ran away on foot with a quantity of cash. Police searched the area but did not find the accused.

The man they are looking for is described as about 5’7″ with a heavy build and between 60 to 65 years old. At the time of the incident, he had a full white beard and was wearing a black zip up jacket, army green track suit with a black stripe down the side of the pants, a camo ball cap, black shoes with bright orange gloves and sunglasses.

Just before this incident officers were called to Rockingham Elementary School on 31 Tremont Dr. in Bedford after an alarm was triggered.

Once there around 8:10 p.m., police found and arrested six people who had unlawfully entered the school.

Five youths aged 16 and 17 years old are set to appear in youth court and were charged with:

  • Mischief over $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Break and enter with intent to commit

An 18-year-old man is facing the same charges but will appear at a provincial court.

Police also noted they arrested another man wanted on outstanding warrants on May 3 as well.

This happened around 6:55 a.m. on May 3 when officers responded to an unwanted person at a home in the 6200 block of Allen Street in Halifax. Shortly later, they arrested the suspect who was known to police for having several files for his arrest.

Kyle Joshua Reddick, 39, is set to appear in court to face offences such as:

  • Misleading police by diverting suspicion
  • Three counts of obstructing/resisting police
