Power restored after crash closes stretch of Bedford Highway

Thursday morning was a more challenging commute for people who use the Bedford Highway.

Halifax Regional Police says that as of 8:30 a.m., the roadway between Kearney Lake Road and Flamingo Drive remains closed in both directions after an early-morning crash that took out a power pole and brought down wires.

That led to a large power outage in the surrounding area, impacting more than 6,000 Nova Scotia Power customers. Power was restored to the area around 8 a.m.

According to police, it was expected the Bedford Highway would remain closed in the area for most of the morning.

People are asked to avoid the area.
