Firefighters rescue person from blaze and tackle overturned cement truck

Firefighters responded to two calls this morning in Halifax Regional Municipality.

The first call was around 3:10 a.m. for an alarm in downtown Halifax. Teams arrived to find a fire.

On a search through the building, crews found an unconscious person, who was treated by firefighters until paramedics arrived on scene. The fire was brought under control shortly after.

“We treat every alarm as real—because it often is,” the firefighter’s union said in a post.

Later this morning, teams were needed again, this time for a vehicle incident.

According to crews, they responded to an overturned cement truck at the Duke Street roundabout in Lower Sackville.

Delays are expected to continue despite the scene being cleared by firefighters.
