Driver speeding 58 km/h over limit in Bedford

Halifax Regional Police laid stunting charges to a lead foot driver in Bedford on June 10.

An officer caught a vehicle travelling at a “high rate of speed” inbound on Highway 102 near the Duke Street exit at around 8:30 a.m. They clocked the vehicle going 158 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

The 37-year-old man was ticketed for stunting, a charge that is laid automatically when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the limit. The fine is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.

The man also faces a driving suspension for seven days and his vehicle was seized.
