Police watchdog investigates arrest that left man with broken elbow

The province’s police watchdog is investigating an incident involving police in Cole Harbour.

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) says police were called to a residence in Cole Harbour on June 26, where an adult male was on the property and refused to leave.

SiRT says the man resisted arrest and was taken to the ground by responding officers.

He later complained of back and elbow pain, was taken to hospital, and diagnosed with a broken elbow.

SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters involving death, serious injury, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, or other issues of public interest arising from the actions of any police officer, on or off duty, in Nova Scotia.
