RCMP charge youth following armed home invasion in Lower Sackville

Two youths have been charged following a home invasion in Lower Sackville involving a sensory irritant and a pellet gun. Police say two more suspects remain at large.

RCMP responded to reports of a disturbance at a home on Hillside Avenue shortly before midnight on Saturday.

An investigation revealed that four masked youths entered the residence where a group had gathered. Once inside, a pellet gun was discharged and one occupant was allegedly assaulted.

The suspects then fled the scene, deploying a sensory irritant on the way out.

Upon arrival, officers located several youth victims who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were attended to by EHS. A nearby resident had come out during the commotion and was impacted by the sensory irritant.

Four persons of interest were identified based on information gathered at the scene. RCMP coordinated a search of the area with assistance from a drone and Halifax Regional Police Dog Services.

Officers located and arrested two youth suspects at a residence on Alder Crescent.

The suspects have been released on condition and will appear in Halifax Youth Justice Court at a later date. No other suspects have been located at this time.

On Sunday morning, RCMP executed a search warrant at the Alder Crescent residence. The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 902-490-5020. To remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
