Halifax police lay multiple charges against man for drug, weapons offences

Regional police have charged a man with a slew of weapons and drug offences following an incident in Halifax earlier this week.

On Tuesday morning at roughly 7:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Esso gas station on Chebucto Road.

Police said when they arrived, they knocked on the window to get the man’s attention and told him to open the door, but he did not respond. Officers then got in through the passenger door. The man regained consciousness and was assessed by EHS.

According to HRP, the man showed signs of impairment and was arrested without incident.

During the investigation, officers found and seized a firearm and a quantity of drugs.

Braydon McNeil, 24, appeared in Halifax provincial court on Wednesday to face a long list of charges including:

  • Operation of a conveyance while impaired to any degree by alcohol or drugs
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
