Police investigating North End homicide where 70-year-old was killed

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of an injured man at a home on Richmond Street around 1:30 p.m.

Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but the man died from his injuries. In an email to CityNews, officials did not detail the nature of his injuries.

He has been identified as Brian David Johnson, 70.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service determined the death was a homicide following an autopsy. However, police noted they do not believe this incident was random.

This is the fifth homicide in HRM this year.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or with Crime Stoppers.
