Wrong-way crash on Hwy. 111 in Dartmouth sends two to hospital

Halifax Regional Police say a collision on Highway 111 in Dartmouth sent a number of people to hospital.

Police received reports shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday of a vehicle travelling northbound on the wrong side of the highway near Exit 5, followed by reports of a head-on collision near the Woodland Avenue on-ramp.

Officials say the occupants of both vehicles sustained serious injuries.

Police told The Canadian Press that the cause of the crash is under investigation and suspect it could be related to a medical issue.

Southbound traffic between Woodland Avenue and Micmac Boulevard on Highway 111 was reduced to one lane but has since reopened after officers cleared the area.
