One of the cross-harbour ferry services connecting Halifax and Dartmouth is being reduced, and it’s not clear for how long.
The Halifax Regional Municipality says as of Monday, Jan. 12, the Alderney Ferry will now run every 30 minutes from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. Typically, the ferry runs every 15 minutes.
The municipality says the service reduction is needed because one of its ferries, the Vincent Coleman, requires repairs after a mechanical issue was flagged last week.
As for when full service will be restored to the route, HRM says there is no current time frame as the repairs depend on parts that need to be shipped.
