Most of Nova Scotia is set to get a fresh dumping of snow.
Environment Canada has issued a yellow snowfall warning for most of the province, forecasting 15 to 25 cm of snow Sunday evening overnight into Monday.
Temperatures are expected to hover near zero, creating dense and wet snow. This can make clearing very difficult.
“Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow,” the weather authority says.
The precipitation will also make travel difficult so if you have errands to run it’s best to get them done in the morning. Snow is expected to lighten up again by Monday morning.
Winter parking ban in effect
Halifax Regional Municipality has issued an overnight winter parking ban which will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. Monday morning to allow crews to properly clear roads and sidewalks.
“Vehicles must be off municipal streets during the hours noted above,” the city said. “Regardless of the status of an overnight winter parking ban, or whether you have received a notification, vehicles can be towed, day or night, at any time of year, if they are interfering with snow-clearing operations, as per Section 139 of the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.”
Vehicles hanging out of a driveway or parked on the sidewalk are prone to damage and become obstacles for crews that make clearing more difficult. The municipality says anyone obstructing sidewalk clearing will be ticketed.
