Police chase stolen vehicle through Halifax laying a slew of charges

Regional police recovered a stolen vehicle over the weekend following a pursuit.

On Sunday night, police responded to a report of a theft of a Volkswagen Jetta in a parking lot on Windsor Street.

According to HRP, a victim was waiting in the passenger seat of his running vehicle and an unknown man got into the driver’s seat, threatened him with a knife and then stole the vehicle.

Then on Monday night, an officers saw the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of 101 Wyse Road.

Police said the officer turned on their patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and started to approach the vehicle but it drove off.

Multiple patrol units then responded and pursued the vehicle through Burnside Industrial Park onto Wright Avenue where they were able to bring the vehicle to a stop and arrest the driver.

HRP said Ryan Colbourne, 28, was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Tuesday to face a laundry list of charges, including evading police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death and robbery, among many others.
