The RCMP says a youth has been arrested after an armed robbery on public transit in Cole Harbour this week.
Police say officers responded to the incident around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
“Officers learned that a youth victim was on a public transit bus in the area of Poplar Drive and Portland Street when the armed youth pushed them into a seat, pointed a handgun at their chest, and demanded their sweater and ski mask,” reads a media release from the RCMP. “The victim complied and was able to get off the bus at the next stop.”
The victim was not physically injured, according to police.
The youth suspect was arrested around North Preston Road and Beals Crescent, and police say an imitation firearm and the victim’s sweater were found near a residence on Beals Crescent with the help of an HRP canine unit.
The youth has been charged with a number of offences, including robbery, assault, possession of a firearm contrary to order and failure to comply with a release order.
Police say the accused was in court on Tuesday and is being held in custody until their next court date.
