No charges in fatal snowplow crash in Truro

Police in Truro say they’ve concluded the investigation into a deadly crash in the community earlier this month, and no charges will be laid.

Emergency crews responded to a car dealership parking lot on Queen Street around 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 2, where a woman had been hit by a snowplow.

The 54-year-old woman was taken to hospital, where she died of her injuries.

In an update on Friday, Truro Police Service announced the investigation had been completed.

“Our investigators met with the family of the deceased yesterday and can now advise the public that this incident has been ruled a tragic accident and no charges are pending from the police investigation,” reads a post on the TPS Facebook page.

The incident has been referred to the provincial labour department for a workplace accident review.

Police said the investigation was a difficult one, saying the entire community has felt the impact of the tragedy.
