A popular English singer-songwriter is making a stop in Halifax on his first Canadian tour in more than a decade.
Billy Bragg announced yesterday that he is scheduled to perform at the Light House Arts Centre in Halifax on June 18.
The renowned musician and activist rose to fame in the 1980s with popular songs like A New England and She’s Leaving Home, which is a cover of a Beatles’ song.
He has since released several solo studio albums, including his most recent, The Million Things That Never Happened, which was released in 2021.
In a post on social media, Bragg says it has been over ten years since he performed in Canada.
“I’m excited to be playing shows from Halifax to Winnipeg this summer,” he writes on Facebook. “Hope and empathy are in short supply at the moment, so seems like a good time to reconnect.”
Bragg will also be making stops in Moncton and Saint John, New Brunswick.
Tickets for the Halifax show go on sale to the public on Friday.
