Mounties charge 29-year-old man for driving while impaired by drugs

Police in Bedford have arrested a man they say was driving while impaired by drugs.

On Tuesday at roughly 4 p.m., Mounties responded to a report of an erratic driver in the area of Pockwock Road.

Police said a Hyundai Veracruz was travelling east toward Bedford and was swerving on the roadway.

According to RCMP, while Mounties were en route, HRP officers responded to a report of a Hyundai Veracruz that had left the road and come to rest in a ditch on Larry Uteck Boulevard.

Mounties said they found the driver inside the vehicle, adding he showed signs of impairment and was arrested.

Police said he passed a roadside alcohol screening test, but an HRP drug recognition expert determined he was impaired by drugs.

The 29-year-old Halifax man will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.
