Survey aims to improve student travel to school in HRM

A new municipal-led survey launched on Monday asking residents for advice on safer strategies for students to get to school.

Until May 29, Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting people to share their thoughts on active school travel, including walking, using scooters, biking and more.

The municipality says the survey is anonymous, takes less than 15 minutes and is part of the Active School Travel Baseline Study.

The intention is to better understand challenges for safer school travel routes and how to make improvements going forward.

Input from students, parents, school staff and others will inform future planning, the infrastructure changes needed, and education programs to support safer travel to schools in the HRM.

Following the survey, a report will be released and shared on the project page this summer.

To take part, residents can visit engagehalifax.ca/AST-baseline-study.
