It’s time to dig through all the old boxes in the basement and get rid of some of what many others may consider hidden treasures.
Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to take part in the twice-annual Curbside Give Away Weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday, Haligonians are being encouraged to place clean, reusable items outdoors at the curb with a sign marking them as ‘free’.
The Halifax Regional Municipality is asking people to “practice good curbside etiquette” by removing all unclaimed items from the curb by dusk on Sunday, adding any unclaimed usable items can be donated to local charitable organizations or disposed of on your regular garbage collection day, in accordance with standard collection limits.
The inititiave is aimed at supporting reuse and waste diversioin efforts, in alignment with the goals in the city’s strategic plan.
Participants can also promote items and plan ahead by pinning and viewing listings on the Curbside Give Away map on the municipality’s website.
