Pedestrian hit by truck in New Glasgow suffering life-threatening injuries

A 71-year-old man is fighting for his life after being hit by a vehicle in New Glasgow.

New Glasgow police say officers were called to the intersection of Provost Street and MacLean Street yesterday afternoon, where the older adult pedestrian in a crosswalk was struck by a Dodge truck.

In a post on social media, police say the man was quickly sent to hospital by EHS with what they’re calling life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old man, was not hurt but will now face serious charges that include failing to yield to a pedestrian, driving without insurance, operating an unregistered vehicle, as well as displaying license plates that are issued for another vehicle.

Few other details have been released by New Glasgow Police, but they do say the investigation is ongoing.
