Two youths killed, 1 in critical condition after crash in Lunenburg

An underage driver struck a tree while travelling on Highway 324 over the weekend, killing another young passenger and sending the other youth to hospital.

RCMP officers responded to a community in Lunenburg on July 11. Just before 6:40 a.m., they received reports that a Ford Bronco was travelling southeast when it left the roadway near Lilydale.

The vehicle hit a tree and killed the youth driver and passenger at the scene. A third person, also a youth, was sent to hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

Highway 324 was closed for several hours while a reconstructionist recreated the scene.

“Our thoughts are with the victims’ loved ones at this difficult time,” Mounties said in the press release.
