Thousands of chicken dead after Lunenburg farm break-in

Lunenburg District RCMP is investigating a break-and-enter at a poultry barn that has led to the death of roughly 10,000 chickens.
Officials say in a release that RCMP officers responded to reports of a break-and-enter at around 9:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 25. The report came from a poultry facility on Naugler Rd in Pine Grove.
Officers on scene discovered that thousands of chickens had died due to the incident, as the barn’s ventilation fans had been turned off. Investigators say in the report that the break-in is believed to have occurred the night prior at around 9:45 p.m. on July 24.
A representative for the RCMP told CityNews Halifax that this time was approximated using a review of the facility’s equipment’s electronic monitoring history. The representative also confirmed that no equipment or valuables were stolen from the facility.
