The City of Halifax announced late Thursday in a release that one of Bridgeview’s longest roads, Flamingo Dr, will be closing temporarily to facilitate maitenance work.
The city announced that the closure would be for road repair work, identifying it as part of their ‘Moving Better’ goals outlined by the Halifax’s 2026-2030 strategic plan. Flamingo Dr is one of a number of local roads to be closed in the past week for this reason.
Flamingo Dr will close from Canary Cres to Knightsridge Dr, which should leave the eastern section from Oriole St to the Bedford Hwy intersection uneffected.
The closure will take place on Friday, July 31 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Then, a second closure will take place again on Tuesday, August 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The release indicates that the road should be open through the weekend and Natal Day.
Halifax’s release says that lane drops and stop-and-go traffic blockages will be in place during the work at the aforementioned time. They advise that drivers should expect delays, and if possible, should use alternative routes.
