Halifax police officer missing part of gun, bullets after chasing suspect

Officials are asking anyone who comes across a magazine containing ammunition to return it to Halifax Regional Police immediately.

On Wednesday, an officer chased after a robbery suspect on Green Road in Dartmouth around 10:35 a.m. During the pursuit, police said that a magazine fell from the officer’s equipment belt.

Police have searched the area but the part of the gun was not found. They are continuing to look for it but are warning people that unlawful possession of police equipment is against the law. The robbery suspect being followed was arrested and searched but did not have the weapon.

“If someone is found in possession of the magazine, they may face criminal charges, fines or other legal penalties,” the police statement reads.
