Teen facing charge after fiery, head-on crash in Bedford

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, along with police, were called to a fiery two-vehicle collision in Bedford late Monday.
It happened around 11:50 p.m. on Larry Uteck Boulevard, near Amesbury Gate. When police arrived they found one vehicle on fire in the woods, the second was still on the road.
Both vehicles suffered significant front-end damage, police said in a release. One driver was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters were called to the area to douse the flames.
A 17-year-old is scheduled to appear in court to face a charge of operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm.

Weekend update from police
There were two notable incidents over the weekend in Halifax, including a robbery and a man threatening people with a hammer.
Officials were called to Long Lake Provincial Park in Spryfield to a trail system, where people reported an agitated man.
Police got to the area around 10:05 a.m., and saw a man with a hammer. He was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
The same day, around 4:00 p.m. officers were sent to the Halifax Shopping Centre.
Staff told police that a youth had stolen $400 worth of product and sprayed a sensory irritant at several security guards at a Zumiez store.
As a result, a 14-year-old is being held in custody to face the charges of:
- Assault with a weapon x5
- Robbery
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Disguise with intent
- Uttering threats
