Pictou County man charged with drug and weapon offences

A Pictou County man has been charged with drug and weapon offences by the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (PCISCEU).
Through an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, PCISCEU found out a man was selling cocaine and methamphetamine throughout the region.
On August 27, officers observed the man in a BMW SUV travelling along Hamilton Road in Westville. The vehicle then drove to a residence on Bells Lane in New Glasgow. There, the man exited the SUV carrying a backpack. He and three other occupants of the vehicle were safely arrested.
After the arrest, a search of the man’s backpack resulted in the seizure of approximately 50 grams of crack cocaine, 30 grams of methamphetamine, a quantity of cash and an air-powered handgun.
39-year-old Glen Robert Rent has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Rent is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on August 28.
The three other people who were arrested were released without charge. The investigation remains ongoing.
