Teen facing 54 mischief charges in graffiti investigation

Police are saying they caught and charged a “prolific” graffiti tagger after dozens of incidents across the region.

Halifax police say that on Aug. 28, officers searched a home in the municipality in connection to multiple graffiti incidents. Police then arrested an 18-year-old, however because some of the offences happened when he was a minor, his name will not be released to the public.

The teen is expected to appear in a provincial court to face 54 counts of mischief under $5,000.

Officials are still looking into the incidents.

“Spreading graffiti is a crime, and its presence can impact the perception of our community, property values, and people’s sense of pride and safety,” police said in the release.
