Lower Sackville man facing child luring charges over online communication

A 54-year-old man is charged with two child offences after RCMP began an investigation in July.

According to police, they got a report that a man, in the Lower Sackville community, had communicated online with a youth for a sexual purpose.

On Sept. 9, several Mountie units, and Halifax Regional Police, executed a search warrant at a home on Langevin Drive. Officials say in the search they gathered electronic devices.

As a result, Andrew Peter Lawrence is facing charges of luring a child and making sexually explicit material available to a child.

The accused was released on conditions and is set to appear in a Dartmouth court on Oct. 13.

Officers say there could be more victims who were targeted online and are asking guardians to speak about online safety to young people.
