Fort Needham has new net-zero washroom

By Meghan Groff

A new public washroom is now open at Fort Needham Memorial Park.

The building is the first in HRM that meets the municipality's new net-zero construction standard. That means 100 per cent of the energy needed to run it is generated on-site or off-site through a renewable source.

The all-gender washrooms meet the latest standards for accessibility, including an adult change table.

There's a drinking fountain inside with a water bottle fill station, and outside there's a fountain to provide fresh water for pets.

Haligonians can use the facility daily between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.

It can be found close to the playground near the Needham Street entrance.
