Adopt Me: Abigail a.k.a Miss Independent

She would prefer a home without young kids or other animals

HalifaxToday, in partnership with the Dartmouth SPCA, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

Meet Abigail (Abby), a very independent nine-year-old kitty. She does need someone who is willing to put in the time and effort to build a relationship with her. She is very shy and keeps to herself.

She will bat or nip at you if you give her too much attention but she does enjoy her head being pet or scratches under her chin. She sits with us every night at supper and cocks her head at us to watch.

Abby is currently eating hairball control dry food. She doesn't like being picked up but she will hop up on your lap if there's a storm outside or if your lap contains a fuzzy blanket.

She would prefer a home without young kids or other animals. We think she would fit well with someone who just enjoys having a cat around for company. She is very playful and runs around but mostly likes to sleep in her bed. Will be looking to send her to her forever home with her favorite bed, blanket and toy.

Likes: Toy mouse, balls with bells in them, laser pointers, head pats, chin scratches, her bed, fuzzy blankets, watching you eat, making biscuits.

Dislikes: Vacuums, fur being brushed, being picked up, wet food, thunderstorms.

If you are interested in meeting Abigail in her foster home, please contact the Dartmouth SPCA at or 902-468-7877 option 6.
