Adopt Me: Spud is a unique character

He would prefer a quiet, adult-only home

CityNews Halifax, in partnership with the Dartmouth SPCA, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

This is Spud, he is a unique character. He is looking for a quieter home, despite his confidence he can be easily started and will go back to his instinct of hiding.

He came to us when he was trapped as a feral kitten, his confidence made him a challenge to socialize with humans. He has a naturally bold and confident personality, but when you move too quickly or make a loud noise he reacts fearfully.

He is a LOT of energy, even compared to other kittens his age (5 months), anything is a fun toy! especially any object you leave on a table or desk. He plays a bit too rough with other cats, and doesn't back off when they are clearly telling him they've had enough.

He doesn't mind the dogs he lives with but he does pick on them by attacking their tails and jumping out of nowhere to paw at them, he would prefer to be the only cat in your home.

He will do best with an adult-only home, as he can be 'nippy' especially when startled, he likes to chew on things that includes your fingers and feet. The moment you pick him up he gets so excited he has this loud purr.

Expect the maximum exuberance of a kitten, and if you expect your kitty to stay off counters he isn't the boy for you, as he does what he wants. He is endless hours of entertainment and will find new ways to get into trouble.

He will need to be an indoor-only cat, as he would not come back if he was outside. Past experience owning a cat would be beneficial to understanding Spuds unique quirks.

He is currently in a foster home, if you would like to meet him please fill out an adoption application and you will be contacted to make an appointment to meet him. He is available for adoption through the Dartmouth SPCA.
