Health officials in New Brunswick report 95 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths

FREDERICTON — Health officials in New Brunswick are reporting 95 new cases of COVID-19 today and two more deaths from the disease. 

They say a person in their 90s in the Moncton region and a person in their 70s in the Saint John area have died as a result of COVID-19.

Chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell says 59 people are hospitalized, including 16 people in intensive care.  

There are 12 people are on ventilators.

Twenty-six of the people hospitalized were initially admitted for other reasons and contracted COVID-19 due to outbreaks in hospitals in Moncton, Saint John and Miramichi.

There are now 691 active cases in the province.
