ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — Police in southern New Brunswick have identified the remains of a man who was reported missing from the Saint John area in December 2020.

The Saint John Police Force issued a statement today saying the body of 32-year-old Kyle Richard Leblanc was recently found in the Lakewood Heights area.

That’s the same densely wooded location where he was last seen almost two years ago.

Police say a number of searches for Leblanc were conducted in 2021, but they turned up nothing.

Skeletal remains were found by a hiker last Friday.

The body was identified using dental records, and police are continuing their investigation into Leblanc’s death.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 16, 2022.
