COVID-19: New data shows 406 New Brunswickers have died since start of pandemic

FREDERICTON — The number of COVID-19-related deaths in New Brunswick has topped 400. 

New government data released today indicates seven more residents died of the novel coronavirus between May 1-7, increasing the total to 406 since the start of the pandemic.

There are currently 47 people hospitalized with the disease — a drop of 34 from the previous week.  

Among those patients are six in intensive care, down four from the week before.  

Officials say 1,338 new cases were confirmed by PCR testing during the seven-day period.  

The province reported an average of 191 new cases per day.
