FREDERICTON — Health officials in New Brunswick are reporting 46 new cases of COVID-19 today and another COVID-19-related death.

They confirmed that a person in their 70s in the Moncton region has died as a result of COVID-19.

The number of active cases in the province is now 706, and 64 people are hospitalized, including 17 in intensive care.

Almost 3,000 children aged five to 11 have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

That includes 400 11-year-olds who recently received their second vaccine dose.

Those children had been eligible to receive the regular vaccination earlier this year because they will be 12 before Dec. 31.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Nov. 29, 2021.
