Prince Edward Island reports two COVID-19 deaths in past week, 19 people hospitalized

CHARLOTTETOWN — Prince Edward Island has announced two new COVID-19 related deaths in the past week.

Officials say the deaths involve one person between 60 and 79 years old and another in their 80s.

This bring the province's total death count to 18 since the onset of the pandemic.

Nearly 2,500 new cases of the disease have been reported since March 22.

Officials say there are 19 people in the hospital with the disease, including one patient in intensive care.

There are now 3,487 active infections reported on the Island.
