The 6th Atlantic Jewish Film Festival kicks off next week with several films on the schedule.

The chair of the film festival tells NEWS 95.7 the event runs november 21st to 24th and features seven films, including a shorts series.

Lynn Rotin says the festival, which first launched in 2012, is a great way to learn more about Jewish life and culture from around the world.

“And we, as Jews, we learn things too, because I'm learning stuff about Ethiopia, and France, and Poland, countries that I don't know, or have never visited, and it's from their point of view, it's Jewish life from their point of view, and how they live it,” explains Rotin. “It's not only an education for the general public, and I emphasize it's not just for Jews, we have a diverse audience.”

Rotin says some of the films you don't want to miss include “Fig Tree” and bio-drama “Golda's Balcony,” which looks at the life of the fourth Prime Minister of Israel.

“It's a film version of this one woman play that ran on Broadway for over 500 performances, the longest running one person play ever, and it's stunning, multiple cameras, and every time it's shown, the producer comes, so it's a great opportunity for Q&A,” says Rotin.

The event opens next Thursday with the screening of “Working Women” at 7 o'clock at the Park Lane Cineplex in Halifax.
