An American Airlines flight carrying 176 passengers made an emergency landing in Halifax Wednesday afternoon.
Flight 89 was flying from Ireland's Shannon Airport to Philadelphia when smoke was detected in the cabin.
Officials at Halifax Stanfield International Airport say the emergency call came in at 12:40 p.m. AT and the Boeing 757 landed safely about 10 minutes later.
Online flight trackers show it passing over Nova Scotia, reaching north of New Russell before the circling back over Blomidon and heading to the Halifax airport about 6 hours after takeoff.
