Halifax's Ellie Black barely missed out on the podium in Tuesday's women's balance beam final at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 25-year-old gymnast led off the competition, holding onto third place until the final competitor pushed Black out of medal contention.

According to Team Canada PR, it was the Canadian's best ever result in that competition.

Black was returning from an ankle injury that held her out of some events earlier in the games.
