By Mark Hodgins

Halifax Fire says what is believed to be an abandoned house was destroyed by fire in Upper Hammonds Plains on Thursday.

District Chief Lloyd Currie says crews were called out to the fire at 853 Pockwock Rd. Thursday evening.

“When they arrived there were flames through the roof, and it was fully involved,” Currie said, adding that firefighters undertook defensive operations because of the extent of the fire. “The building was a total write-off.”

Currie says there were no injuries.
