UPDATE: Power was restored just before 8 a.m.

A busy area of Dartmouth was without power early Friday morning after a crash.

According to Halifax Regional Police, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 0-100 block of Windmill Rd. just after 5 a.m. Police said the vehicle had struck a power pole, knocking out power to the area. The people inside the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

As of 6 a.m., Nova Scotia Power was reporting nearly 2,000 customers without power in the area, from around Farrell St. along Windmill toward downtown Dartmouth. Power was scheduled to be restored by 8 a.m.

HRP said Windmill Rd. between Lyle St. and Wyse Rd. was closed to traffic in both directions and would be for an extended period.
