‘Completely unacceptable’: N.S. construction association responds after workplace death

By Alex Cooke

The Construction Association of Nova Scotia is responding after a 22-year-old man died in a workplace accident earlier this week.

The group says there's still a lot of work to do in order to protect workers in the province.

The man fell from a Burnside work site on Tuesday and later died in hospital.

It's a troubling incident, says association President Duncan Williams.

“The conditions on any given site can change in an instant, and despite best efforts unfortunately sometimes tragedies happen,” said Williams. “It's completely unacceptable and certainly saddening.”

Williams says the association is working closely with the department of labour to provide more oversight to work sites that may not be up to code.

Few details of Tuesday's incident are available, but the department is investigating.
